Apprenticeships Matter has been working in the apprenticeship and traineeship sector for more than 15 years.
Over this time, we have found that there is an increasing gap in the number of females compared to males in the uptake of apprenticeships in traditional trade areas.
To address this gender inequality in traditional trades, we have launched Apprenticeships Matter for Women, an initiative aimed at not only expanding the awareness of opportunities that exist for women in traditional trades, but also increasing the uptake of women in these roles.
We believe that there is no better time to endorse career pathways for women in non-traditional trades and aim to do this by promoting the opportunities in sectors such as civil construction, building and construction, engineering, manufacturing, automotive to name a few. These sectors have traditionally been the domain of men however we see the benefits of creating opportunities for women to achieve qualifications, gain financial independence and a myriad of other opportunities including starting their own businesses if this is where their passions or ambitions lie.
We believe that Apprenticeships Matter for Women is a moral, social and economic imperative for our community and we are passionate about advocating this cause. We want all women to be able to consider and be considered for all traditional trade apprenticeships. We are calling on Australian public to achieve this vision.
